The International Association for Sound Massage Therapy (e.V.) was founded in May 1999 and primarily serves as a professional network and advocacy group for all those working with the Peter Hess^® Sound Massage and Peter Hess^® Sound Methods around the world.

Our mission is to support our members in their professional sound-based work by providing expert knowledge, networking opportunities, and mentoring. Together with our members and close partners—the Peter Hess^® Institute, more than 30 Peter Hess^® Academies worldwide, and Hess Sound—we bring sound into the world so that as many people as possible can benefit from its soothing effects. Through quality assurance, project work, and research, we also contribute to the ongoing development and professionalization of Peter Hess^® Sound Work.

We are the official professional association for Peter Hess^® Sound Massage Practitioners.

Since 2012, our association has been a member of the National Association for Independent Health Professions (Freie Gesundheitsberufe – FG). This affiliation commits us to uphold their high standards of quality and ethics. Our members have the opportunity to receive certification for the Advanced Peter Hess^® Sound Massage Training in accordance with these standards, earning a certificate that includes a professional title. We also award the title of Certified Peter Hess^® Sound Massage Practice. More information about certification is available here.

Additionally, through our membership in the FG, we are connected with associations representing other complementary methods, allowing us to join forces and contribute to policy advocacy on a broader level.
