Emily Hess® Yoga Sound

Emily Hess developed this beautiful fusion of yoga and sound. Singing bowls, gongs, and mantras are incorporated into yoga sessions, inspiring participants to let go with lightness and joy. As the body relaxes, so too does the mind. This allows for a deep inner journey—into the soul—opening the door to reconnecting with oneself and entering an inner space of peace and harmony, warmth and security, joy and contentment. It's an invitation to return to oneself, fully present in the here and now.

The intention of Yoga Sound is to engage people on a physical, emotional, and mental level. Sound speaks to us in a deeply unique way—reaching layers that no other method can touch so profoundly. Moving through yoga postures in the resonance of singing bowls, gongs, and mantras—while gently listening inward—can become one of the deepest experiences available. With Yoga Sound, you can guide your yoga students back to their natural vibration, inner joy, and innate wisdom. In turn, this fosters a renewed zest for life and a desire to return to class with enthusiasm.

Emily Hess® Yoga Sound aims to help people connect with themselves and with others through sound, rhythm, and yoga. This connection becomes tangible through the use of asanas and the sounds of singing bowls, gongs, and mantras. New sound spaces and vibrational experiences are created—within body, mind, and interpersonal interaction—allowing sound to be rediscovered again and again.

The combination of Yoga Sound Meditation, Yoga Sound Massage, and Yoga Sound Relaxation transforms the yoga experience into something joyful, nourishing, and deeply felt. Participants are encouraged to relax deeply into each asana, gaining greater sensitivity to their body’s needs. Supported and inspired by sound, they are invited to explore this experience in a completely new and sensorial way.

Yoga also aims to open and align the inner channels of the body. According to the great teachers, this promotes the unimpeded flow of internal energy. Therapeutic-grade singing bowls can powerfully assist this process. The mind can follow the rhythm and perceive the vibration in the space. Within the sound space, it's much easier to focus awareness on the body. Where do the tones float effortlessly through the body’s fluids? Where does the vibration still pause? Where is the energy already flowing again? Sound helps the attentive listener quickly shift into a meta-level perspective, making it easier to recognize thought patterns or observe internal activity—and to guide both mindfully. All of this, in the spirit of Yoga Sound, can be experienced with joy and a sense of lightness.
