“The sound of the singing bowl touches our innermost being; it sets the soul in motion.
The vibration releases tension, activates self-healing powers, and unleashes creative energy.”
— Peter Hess
Peter Hess developed the Western method of sound massage with singing bowls in 1984—as a holistic relaxation technique. Shortly thereafter, he founded what is now the Peter Hess Institute (PHI), which also encompasses the Peter Hess Academies abroad.
From the very beginning, Peter Hess placed great importance on the connection between practice, teaching, and research. In line with his motto “From practice, for practice,” various sound methods were developed over time. These methods allow for specialization across a wide range of professional fields—from wellness and prevention to education, counseling, clinical support, nursing, and therapy. The wide-ranging applications of sound in professional settings are reflected in our extensive offering of workshops and seminars, with over a hundred events held each year.
All instructors for sound massage training, both in Germany and internationally, are personally authorized by Peter Hess. This requires extensive hands-on experience, participation in observation and assistant roles, and ongoing involvement in advanced training and supervision seminars. All our instructors have a solid foundation in the Peter Hess sound methods and have undergone comprehensive training over an extended period.
