Gong I: Foundations of Gong Playing

Gong I:

Foundations of Gong Playing

Concept by Elisabeth Dierlich®
For Sound Meditation, Sound Journeys, and One-on-One Sessions

With its magnificent, overtone-rich sounds, the gong effortlessly fills the space and wraps us in a magical cloak of sound. Its resonant, harmonizing vibrations are perceived throughout the entire body—they reach into our tissues and organs. Our nervous system and emotions are also highly responsive to the gong. In this way, it deeply connects us with ourselves and opens up a wide range of physical and emotional experiences. When played softly and gently, the gong invites us to release thoughts, planning, and worries, allowing us to simply listen and surrender. This leads to deep relaxation and is a true pleasure for body, mind, and soul. Played powerfully and intensely, the gong sets every cell in motion, activates our self-healing abilities, and provides revitalizing energy. We recharge and feel refreshed and invigorated.

The mindful and responsible use of the Tam Tam gong in group and individual settings requires a sensitive attitude and solid practical experience. This forms the foundation for a safe and effective application.

In this seminar, we explore a meditative mindset and the sound qualities and expressive potential of the Chinese Tam Tam gong. You will learn techniques for creating intentional soundscapes in sound meditations and sound journeys, as well as for using the gong in professional sound practice.
